At this Critical Time in the World: Time to be Bold. Support Women’s Organizations Directly
We will launch an innovative funding model which enable women leaders on the ground to be supported with a longer view for sustainable development.

Our Strategic Partners: The MATCH International Women’s Fund and the Nobel Women’s Initiative are launching the Canadian Feminist Action Lab with the aim of bringing a bold and more impactful way to deliver international aid to women’s grass-roots organizations. We will support the expansion and implementation.

The Heart in Action campaign will launch on International Women’s Day to trigger unprecedented investment in women’s and girls’ funds globally, and inspire the biggest “give back” day by global brands and the biggest online shopping day in the world on International Women’s Day. We will generate thousands of activities taking social networking and local activism to a new level. The overall campaign will end on Mother’s Day, with international travel awards given to the winning “Heart in Action” teams.

Why we are needed?

Currently, less than 7% of all philanthropic dollars fund programs specifically for women and girls. Women in the grassroots receive less than 2% of funding. Although gender inequality, poverty, violence against women, access to health care, water, education, technology and equal opportunity have emerged as pressing issues, funding to tackle them is vastly inadequate. How much does it cost the world not to unlock the potential of the world’s women and girls?

Our mission is to build a multi-year global social action campaign to empower women and girls worldwide using the power of media, celebrity and technology to galvanize world attention to these critical issues. Let’s fulfill the Promise. Invest in The Future.

Disseminate Funds. A similar model to the highly successful Stand up to Cancer Benefit will be used to feature 4-5 charities on the broadcast such as the Global Fund for Women, MATCH International Fund, The Canadian Women’s Foundation, The Women’s Funding Network, et al. The Online platform will feature some of the world’s leading women and girl’s funds.

A Steering Committee featuring the heads of the major Women’s Foundations we will support will disseminate the funds raised.


A Word Bank Senior Gender Analyst said "that they are very inspired by this exciting and bold initiative which would help them enormously in getting Finance Ministers of member world nations to implement promises and funds for gender related issues. He clearly stated that If we work together from the grassroots up, and they work from the top down, we will see change happen."

This is a powerful base for global advocacy to influence key stakeholders to increase women’s social, economic and political participation.

To realize this vision we’ll have to step it up – step up our commitment to finishing this, the great unfinished business of the 21st century.

Our approach is one more of social responsibility and social change philanthropy vs. ‘cause marketing’ as we aim to build long-term commitment that serves as a sustainable program model that can be evaluated and improved over time.
